LANDSCAPING, GARDENS AND PLANTS: FROM FANTASY TO REALITY
Gardens
Gardens are obviously one of our main areas of work, from the small suburban garden on a studio stage, to the large period estate where we might be trying to restore the former glories, or to cover the place with decades of growth and neglect.
This area can also call on all our skills and resources from topiary and hedges to pot grown vegetables, creeper infested walls or rebuilt trees.
'Hippy Hippy Shake' We transfomed this Surrey garden in to a tropical garden in surburban Sydney with plants held in stock.
'Larks Rise to Candlford' A small village was built from scratch near bath. We grew and planted 14 gardens with period vegetables and perennials.
'Sense and Sensability' For this wild and windswept location we were asked to creat a more femanine representation of Derek Jarman's garden at Dungeness.
'Empire of the Sun'
Temperate shrubs were used to create this colonial garden.
'Turn of the Screw'
Here we reinstated the formal sunken garden at Thame Park.
'Alfie'
A mixture of real and artificial flowers were used at this location during the summer of 2003 to create the look of an American garden in spring.
'Chocolat' A French style garden created on location in Somerset
'The Secret Garden' We have dedicated an area of glass for the storage of autumn leaves and various dried wild flowers and weeds. This area is useful for out of season sets, especially those where quick and dramatic seasonal changes are required (The Secret Garden took 3 days to change from high summer to dead, dead winter).
'Twelfth Night' (before)
'Twelfth Night' (after)
"Twelfth Night" Treatment of the forecourt of Padstow Place with box hedging and shrubs.
'The Lost Prince' (Before)
'The Lost Prince' (After)
This empty garden was transformed in a day. All plants were real and in keeping with the period of the film.
